Happy Friday

Good evening my fellow CNAs, let me tell you about my Friday even though today is Monday.

There are many unpredictable things about working as a CNA. You never know how a resident is going to talk to you, you never know whether or not you’ll have to do a bed change or if someone is going to fall while transferring them. You also never know when you’re going to get kicked in the neck.

Tonight during evening rounds I got kicked very hard in the neck. My coworker and I were doing the normal rounds and were changing people and BAM! it happened. This resident is very unpredictable and moods change all the time. They can go from being happy and cooperative and then they can want to aggressively beat you and swear at you. This one decided it was okay to start swinging at us and, believe me, we are use to it from them. I was not predicting that they were going to kick me in the neck and leave a nice bruise on it.

Remember, if you ever get injured as a CNA on the job, make sure you fill out an incident report. THAT WILL HELP YOU. Always make sure to chart is and make an alert in the system. THAT WILL HELP YOU. While you want to take care of the residents and make sure they get the care they need, protect your ass at work. Believe me, you will experience it, too, if you haven’t already.

Happy Friday!
